Description :

Signed Alice Martin "Coastal Relic" Metal Art.  Measures 15" L x 10"W.  Purchased in 2016 at For Arts Sake Gallery in Newport, OR.

Alice Martin is a former Alaskan whose work has been exhibited in more than twenty four gallery shows, twelve local and national invitational exhibitions, seventeen regional and national juried exhibitions – while winning major awards in five of those exhibitions and purchase awards in two. Her work is included in three museum collections and three corporate and Alaska state office branches. Alice has won four grants and commissions including a commission by the Alaska State Council on the Arts to create the Governor’s Awards for the Arts that were presented to the award recipients of 1984 as well as an Individual Artist Fellowship Grant from the Alaska State Council on the Arts, with funding from the National Endowment For the Arts. A career highlight was selection for the West Coast Collection shown at the official residence of Vice President and Mrs. Walter Mondale in Washington D.C. along with a special dinner for the artists. Included was Alice’s porcelain vase on loan from the Anchorage Museum of History & Art. Sponsors were the National Endowment for the Arts and Vice President & Mrs. Mondale. It was curated by Henry Hopkins of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. This collection went on to be shown at the National Museum of American Art, also in Washington D.C. After leaving Alaska over 24 years ago in pursuit of other creative outlets, Alice has happily returned to the world of art that has driven her since childhood and she is armed with new energy that fuels her passion for her new medium of photography.
