Description :

Two antique lanterns - as noted in Lot #76, we have folks who buy for stage sets, so for items like these we sell them as is showing their obvious age.

The smaller lantern is an Embury #40 Traffic Gard kerosene lantern with a red globe. It was used for highway control & construction and we believe this one is pre-1953 since Embury was acquired that year by R.E. Dietz and this lantern still bears the Embury stamp (we are guessing 1920s). The red light made it visible from a distance and it can be hung or rested on the ground. Measures 7.5" H to the top of the body and 15" including the handle. We do not know if it is operative.

The larger lantern is a Handlin C.M. & St. P RY (Chicago, Michigan, and St. Paul Railway) globe railroad switchman's lantern. It probably dates from the 1920s or 1930s. Measures approx. 11" to the top of the body and 16" including the handle. We do not know if it is operative.
