Description :
(“The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man‑in‑the‑Moon Marigolds,” 1972) A striking, character‑driven vintage‑style movie poster for “The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man‑in‑the‑Moon Marigolds” (1972), the acclaimed adaptation of Paul Zindel’s Pulitzer Prize–winning play. This decorative reprint highlights Joanne Woodward in one of her most complex and emotionally charged roles—earning the poster’s unforgettable tagline: “Mother of the Year.” The poster features a bold, minimalist design dominated by stylized portraits of the film’s central characters. Woodward’s intense, cigarette‑in‑hand expression anchors the composition, capturing the raw, unsettling energy of her performance. The warm brown palette and clean graphic layout give the piece a distinctly early‑1970s aesthetic—moody, artistic, and deeply evocative. Prominent critical praise appears at the top, including a standout quote from The New York Times, underscoring the film’s emotional depth and cultural impact. Starring Joanne Woodward Co‑starring Nell Potts & Roberta Wallach Directed by Paul Newman Screenplay by Alvin Sargent Based on the play by Paul Zindel A 20th Century‑Fox release Rated PG Visible creases, pictured UnframedLarge “Mother of the Year” w/ Joanne Woodward Movie Poster
