Description :
The lot features two hardcover volumes from the **Pre‑Code Classics** series published by **PS Artbooks**. Both books collect vintage horror comics originally published before the Comics Code Authority era, showcasing the bold, macabre, and highly stylized artwork that defined early horror storytelling. *Strange Terrors Volume One*: This volume presents a dramatic vintage horror cover dominated by deep, shadowy tones. Dated June 1952 through December 1952. Subtitle **“Terror from the Tombs”**. The artwork depicts a chilling tomb‑side scene: a looming figure stands in the foreground, surrounded by eerie stone structures and a dark, foreboding atmosphere. The illustration uses muted greens, browns, and blacks to evoke a sense of dread and classic pulp‑era suspense. The cover design reflects the raw, unfiltered horror themes typical of pre‑code comics. Issues 1-5. *Strange Terrors Volume Two*: The second volume features a more colorful and action‑packed horror illustration. Volume two is January 1953 – March 1953, issues 6–7. Promotional line **“3 full-length classics in 1.”** The cover art showcases a dramatic scene with a woman in a bright red dress at the center, surrounded by monstrous or threatening figures emerging from a chaotic background. The palette includes vivid reds, yellows, and greens, creating a striking contrast that captures the sensational, exaggerated style of early horror comics. The composition is energetic and theatrical, emphasizing the volume’s anthology nature.
**Overall Presentation: **
Both books are hardcover editions with glossy, vividly reproduced cover art. Together, they represent a curated slice of comic‑book history — a celebration of pre‑code horror’s bold storytelling, lurid imagery, and cultural significance before industry censorship reshaped the genre.
