Description :
This vintage pottery set, produced in Oaxaca during the 1940s, is a quintessential example of regional Mexican mid-century folk art. The pieces are crafted from traditional Oaxacan redware, a low-fired earthenware renowned for its warm, natural terracotta hues. Design and Style:
The aesthetic is characterized by a charming, rustic elegance that blends traditional craftsmanship with the vibrant, expressive decorative trends of the mid-20th century. The set features: Artisanal Motif: Each piece is adorned with hand-painted, stylized white chrysanthemum blossoms, showcasing a delicate folk-art aesthetic that highlights the fluidity of the artist’s brushwork. Dripware Accents: The design incorporates an intentional "drip" technique using rich green glazes. These drips cascade down the terracotta surface, creating a dynamic, organic contrast against the matte redware base. Color Palette: The floral centers are punctuated by bold yellow and orange pigments, adding warmth and a pop of visual energy to the earthy composition. This specific combination of floral patterns and bold drip-glaze application is highly sought after by collectors of vintage Mexican pottery. Condition:
The set is in excellent vintage condition overall, retaining its original charm and structural integrity. There are a few tiny, minor chips present on the teapot, commensurate with its age and history. Dimensions: Smallest Piece: 4" L x 4" W x 3" H Largest Piece: 7" L x 7" W x 11" H
