Description :
Great bundle of ephemera and small items - original and reproduction - from the 1956 movie "Forbidden Planet". Really interesting is the repro press book our client purchased in 2004 showing all the original ads/promos - we've matched images from the repro with one of the original promo tabloids included in the lot so you can compare. Lot includes: Beautiful super-colorful repro of the original movie poster - looks brand new - measures 17" H x 11" W. 2 front covers of Kinematograph Weekly promoting the movie (June 1956) Measure 11" H x 8.5" W. Reproduction Pressbook and Herald for the movie - separate sheets measuring 17" H x 12" W. Clear cover with clip spine holder. 13 sheets, most printed on both sides. 2 copies - slightly different - of the original 4 sheet press tabloid promotion. Newspaper-weight paper has yellowed over time and is a bit brittle. Some small tears/missing corners/etc. Please see the photos for details. Original page advertising the movie from Modern Screen magazine (it's contemporary since the column on the reverse is discussing Marlene Dietrich, Dean Martin, & Perry Como.) Measures 10.5" H x 8" W. Innovation Forbidden Planet Comic book from 1992. Vinyl record of the Forbidden Planet theme song by David Rose & his Orchestra (1956) Not tested for sound quality - B side is the theme from another movie called "The Swan." Promo sheets for MGM's Children's Matinee program showing classic movies for kids which included Forbidden Planet in 1972. Copy of WJ Stuart's Forbidden Planet book from Farrar Strauss & Giroux (1990). Vinyl sticker of Robby the Robot. 4 small plastic FB figures - these do not feel vintage, but we are not sure. A small Robby cast tie tack/pin - measures 1.75" H.
