Description :

Vintage Rex Mars Planet Patrol costume shirt & mask* from the J. Halpern Company (Pittsburgh PA). Model #E 1620. Long-sleeved blue shirt with red mandarin collar and lower section trimmed in yellow piping. “Planet Patrol” is printed in red on the chest along with white designs and bars on the shoulders. It looks to be made of cotton twill with a back button closure and is labeled “medium" in child's sizes.  Measures 16” pit to pit and about 17” from neck to waist; definitely lower elementary size kid if not younger.

There is also an additional close-fitting space cap in red cotton/suede-like fabric with ties under the neck and what appear to be “space cuffs” with snap closures in the same fabric/suede-like combo. 7 of the 8 snaps sections are present - see cuff photo with red circle. All could easily be replaced with new  snap sets in about ½ hour with a needle & thread. Overall the outfit is in amazingly good shape given its age – this would be a primo display. Comes with original box - this costume is #10 on the cover (box is in poor condition with lots of wear and cuts out of the back panel).

*Note: we’ve included a mask that is supposed to be “ Planet Patrol” according to the tag, but the costume in this lot is actually portrayed on the front of the box and that image doesn’t have a mask. We include it because the client had it stored with the costume: the mask has a clear plastic eye area and is primarily blue. There is an electrical unit with it & we believe the two bulbs above the eye area lit up at one time. Note that the red cover is missing on one of them and we are not sure how the electrical unit works. Some detective work on this mask by its new owner may be warranted.
