Description :
3 publications about computers used in space, tracking &
data of satellites, and highly technical space navigation. Well beyond our
understanding, but great for the technical folks out there!
COMPUTERS IN SPACE – JOURNEYS WITH NASA by James E. Tomayko.
Softcover. 1994, Alpha Books (Indianapolis IN) 197 pages. Full color photos and
explanations of the systems used in various missions. Accessible for the
average person reading-wise. Excellent condition. THE NEW SPACE NETWORK – THE TRACKING & DATA RELAY
SATELLITE SYSTEM by Walter Froelich. Softcover booklet. NASA EP-251
(Washington DC) no pagination. Fairly accessible if you have an interest in the
topic. Good condition. SPACE NAVIGATION HANDBOOK – NAVPERS 92988. Softcover. 1961, US
Navy. 124 pages. This is the one for those of you really into diagrams,
calculations, and LOTS of equations. Prepared for the Naval Academy pilot class
on navigating in space – particularly between Earth and the Moon. Lots of fun
reading for the right folks; too complicated for us. In used condition.
As a bonus for you science/tech folks, we are including a copy
of “Current Science and Aviation” from January 1960 detailing the biggest
science events of 1959 – great period read. And once your head is spinning from all the math in the NAVPERS publication, you might what to check out the American Weekly from October 1954 and read about flying saucers! (Or perhaps how Ike lives...)
