Description :
Satsuma Porcelain Vase is a stunning example of traditional Japanese craftsmanship. This 24-inch floor vase is made from high-quality porcelain, known for its durability and fine texture. The vase features intricate gilded detailing and vibrant scenic imagery, depicting figures in traditional attire amidst a picturesque landscape of mountains, water, and foliage. The use of gold accents enhances the overall elegance and adds a touch of opulence to the piece. Satsuma pottery, including this vase, has its roots in the late 16th to early 17th century when Korean potters were brought to Japan. The Satsuma region, located in southern Kyushu, became a prominent center for pottery production due to its abundant local clay and proximity to the Korean peninsula. The distinctive style of Satsuma ware, characterized by its warm cream, ivory-to-beige background with a cracked glaze and over-glazed designs in vibrant colors, became highly sought after, especially during the Meiji period (1868-1912). Chinese made Japanese ware. Please note that there are some minor stains and scratch marks on its surface, suggesting use or exposure over time. (Shown in photos.) Measurement: 24 inches tall
