Description :
Very vintage astronaut posters; 1970s-style wall decoration resurfacing 50 years later!
Large-scale poster with photo of rocket blasting off and a space-suited
astronaut heading into the capsule. The quote in the lower left says “Man’s
knowledge and use of outer space has taken an important forward step with the
around the world flight of an American Astronaut. The knowledge that has been
gained is being freely shared by the United States with scientists of other
nations. This and further advances into space will tell man many of the things
he has long wanted to know.” Obviously,
the suited astronaut is John Glenn and the sharing part of the above quote has
just a hint of global politics aimed toward the USSR. Poster measures 40” H x
30” W unframed. Oddly, there is no printer or source anywhere on the poster. In vintage condition – some slight tears along the edges – largest at the top
- and bends, but no pinholes or tape.
Second poster is actually backed by a cardboard sheet in mostly black
and blue with Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong on the lunar surface. Details
about the mission & the astronauts are at the bottom border. The quote on
the upper right says “I’m going to step off the LEM now. That’s one small step
for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Measures just shy 24” H x 18” W unframed.
Condition is good on most of the surface, but lower corners show heavy wear; this was obviously much loved by one of our client's family.
