Description :

Hand painted pottery tokanabe vase with smooth sides.  Stamped made in Japan on bottom.  Prior to 1921, the tokanabe ware was marked Nippon but export regulations by the U.S. required all manufactured products from Japan to be stamped "Made in Japan".  Mold-pressed pottery sometimes known as chalkware but different from American chalkware.  The material is thinner and extremely harder than the artifacts made with American or Mexican chalkware.  These vases were made by various potters, painters or manufacturers and the artists were not noted.
Dimensions : 6 in W x 10 in H
