Description :

Desk, bureau plat or flat-top table form with two drawers and cabriole legs, ornamented with elaborate boullle work or marquetry inlay incorporating tortoise shell and brass in scrolled motifs, chariot and horses with Cupid, Triton and a captive woman.  Inlay ornaments all surfaces of case, including top, sides and legs.  Ormolu mask is set on the apron between drawers and long ormolu mounts centered by a woman's head are affixed to each leg,  with small ormolu caps on each foot.  Desk has evidence of handwork, in the style of Louis XIV, Napoleon III period ca. 1900.  Note damage to inlay, with some brass elements loose or lifted, some losses to drawers and a split to  the right-hand drawer, crack spans width of desk top.  With conforming  glass top.  30" h. x 45" w. x 27" d.  As is.


This piece needs restoration.
