Description :
William Tell “Top Gun” gunnery competition poster - 1972 - from biennial aerial gunnery competition with fighter aircraft held by the United States Air Force.* This particular poster is in pretty good shape with some blue discoloration on the upper left (see last photo). Measures 24” H x 18” W. We think this may have been signed by the artist, Robert Watts, of Teledyne. The signature above the small lettering appears to be in blue ink pen – please see closeups to determine for yourself.
Cheesy SERGEANT DEADHEAD poster from 1965. Fabulous cast and terrific graphics! Measures approx. 41” H x 27” W. Note the title printing on the back shows on the lower right – see last photos. This is a fabulous poster that would cheer up a drab space.
Volkswagen Beetle “EMERGENCY LANDING” poster by Robert Petro. In good condition. Measures 18” H x 22” W.
*Various major commands of the USAF compete in live-fire exercises, using towed banner targets for gun engagements, and obsolete fighters converted into unmanned target drones for air-to-air missile engagements. Note that in 1972 the competition was held at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida and was when the first "Top Gun" award was won. (this info from emovieposter.com)Auction History
