Description :

This oil-on-canvas painting is a beautifully executed copy of The Madonna in Sorrow, originally painted by the Italian Baroque master Giovanni Battista Salvi, known as Il Sassoferrato (1609–1685). The piece captures the Virgin Mary in a moment of sorrow, her hands gently clasped in prayer, with a solemn yet serene expression.

Sassoferrato was renowned for his devotional and highly detailed depictions of the Virgin Mary, influenced by Renaissance masters such as Raphael and Perugino. His Madonna in Sorrow remains one of the most iconic and frequently copied religious paintings, symbolizing maternal grief and divine serenity.
