Details: Author: Thomas Babington Macaulay Title: The History of England from the Accession of James II Volumes: I–V (complete set) Binding: Original publisher’s cloth with gilt lettering on spine Edition: First Edition Date: Mid-19th century printings (1848–1861 period, depending on volume) Size: Each volume approx. 8.5" tall × 5.5" wide × 1.5" thick Condition: Very good for age. Tight bindings with expected shelf wear and rubbing to cloth at edges and spine tips. Light age toning to pages, but overall clean and presentable. Why Collectible:
Macaulay’s History of England was a publishing phenomenon of its time, shaping Victorian understanding of English history with vivid prose and a Whiggish interpretation of progress and liberty.
