Description :

Louisa May Alcott – Jo’s Boys, and How They Turned Out – First Edition, 1886

First edition of Louisa May Alcott’s Jo’s Boys, the beloved sequel to Little Men and final installment in the Little Womenseries. Published in 1886 by Roberts Brothers (Boston), this volume concludes the March family saga, revisiting Jo March as she guides her grown “boys” into adulthood.

Details:

  • Author: Louisa May Alcott (1832–1888)

  • Title: Jo’s Boys, and How They Turned Out. A Sequel to “Little Men.”

  • Edition: First Edition, 1886

  • Publisher: Roberts Brothers, Boston

  • Binding: Original green cloth with black stamped design and gilt spine lettering, floral motif on cover

  • Size: Approx. 7.5" tall × 5.25" wide × 1.75" thick

Condition: Good+ for age. Light edge and corner wear, some rubbing to gilt and cloth at spine ends. Interior pages are toned but clean, with occasional light foxing typical of the period. Binding remains sound.

Why Collectible:
This is the first printing of Alcott’s final contribution to the March family saga — an essential volume for collectors of Little Women. In original publisher’s cloth, these firsts remain highly desirable as cornerstones of 19th-century American children’s literature.
