Description :

Vintage University of Washington “Tyee” Yearbooks – Early 20th Century Editions

A collection of original Tyee yearbooks from the University of Washington, each a snapshot of student life, academics, and culture in Seattle across pivotal decades of the 20th century. Highly collectible for alumni, regional historians, and those interested in early Pacific Northwest ephemera.

Included in this lot:

  • Tyee 1920
Binding: Purple cloth with gilt-stamped cover design
Notes: A rare early post–World War I edition reflecting the University’s growth and Seattle’s cultural landscape in the 1920s.

  • Tyee Vol. XIX – War Edition (1917–1918)
Binding: Black cloth with gilt lettering “War Edition”
Notes: Published during World War I, this special issue highlights both campus life and the impact of the war on the university community.

  • Tyee Vol. XVII (circa 1915–1916)
Binding: Black cloth with gilt lettering
Notes: Pre–World War I edition, capturing a period of expansion in higher education and the UW’s early traditions.

Condition:
All bindings remain intact, with expected shelf wear, light rubbing, and scattered surface marks. Gilt lettering remains clear. Interiors generally clean, with occasional age toning.

Measurements:
Each volume measures approx. 10"–11" tall x 7.5"–8.5" wide.

Historical Note:
Tyee yearbooks document not only students and faculty but also athletics, clubs, and cultural events. Early 20th-century editions are especially desirable for their detailed photography and commentary on the Pacific Northwest during periods of national change.

This set presents an excellent opportunity for collectors of university memorabilia, Seattle history, or early 20th-century Americana.
