Description :

Tessellated Stone & Pencil Reed Tray on Pedestal Base

A sculptural decorative tray crafted in tessellated stone with embedded fossil inclusions, gently curved in a saddle form. The tray is elevated on a pedestal base joined by a brass ball connector, offering both structural elegance and visual contrast. The underside features a layered pencil-reed design, showcasing meticulous craftsmanship and adding organic texture. This piece reflects the postmodern decorative ethos of the late 20th century, often attributed to Maitland-Smith and other luxury decorators of the Memphis Revival era.

Materials

  • Tessellated stone

  • Metal connector (unspecified)

  • Pencil-reed underside

Style & Period

  • Postmodern / Memphis Revival

  • Circa 1980s–1990s

Notes: This tray is ideal as a centerpiece, catchall, or sculptural accent. The fossil inclusions and reed detailing make it a conversation piece with layered visual interest.
