Description :
A classic piece of American monetary history, this 1928 Series $1 Silver Certificate features the iconic blue Treasury seal and serial numbers, with the distinctive reverse design that earned it the nickname “Funnyback.” Issued during the early years of small-size currency, this note represents the first series of $1 silver certificates printed in the reduced format introduced in 1928. Denomination: $1 Series: 1928 Type: Silver Certificate Nickname: “Funnyback” (due to ornate reverse design) Seal Color: Blue Condition: Not professionally graded; expect typical signs of age and handling consistent with circulated vintage currency. Historical Note: These certificates were redeemable in silver dollars until the practice was discontinued, making them a tangible relic of the U.S. silver standard era. Collectors value this series for its transitional design and historical significance. Ideal for those building a foundational currency collection or seeking a conversation-starting display piece.
