Description :

Presenting an exquisite and unique antique whatnot, possibly a reading stand or library whatnot, that combines elegant craftsmanship with historical significance. This three-tiered stand is a fine example of 19th-century furniture, featuring a rich, dark rosewood construction with beautifully turned columns and shelves. The hinged, ratcheted rectangular top is designed to adjust for comfortable reading or displaying a large volume. The piece stands on elegant legs with its original brass castors, allowing for easy repositioning.
This lot is distinguished by the inclusion of a remarkable and historically significant companion: a large, handwritten ledger book. The book contains a detailed record of prescriptions from the 1920s, up until January 1930, offering a fascinating and rare glimpse into early 20th-century pharmaceutical practices and a slice of medical history. The combination of a high-quality antique whatnot with such a unique piece of ephemera makes this a truly exceptional offering for collectors of both fine furniture and historical documents.

Condition
This item is in good antique condition, with the wear and patina expected of a piece of this age. The whatnot has a classic, timeless appeal, and the accompanying ledger book shows signs of age and use, which only add to its historical character and value.
