Description :
An impressive early Replogle Library Globe, dated 1935, mounted on its original four-legged carved wood stand. Produced by Replogle Globes Inc., Chicago, this piece exemplifies the fine craftsmanship and cartographic artistry of the interwar period. The globe features muted green and tan tones characteristic of 1930s designs and presents detailed pre–World War II geography, including French Indochina, Italian East Africa, Siam, and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R.). It includes steamship and air routes, ocean currents, elevation shading, and population classifications. The cartouche reads: Stand & Features: Original solid wood base with fluted, tapered legs and decorative carved apron. Equatorial wooden horizon ring printed with zodiac signs and calendar markings. Metal meridian ring with engraved degree measurements for tilt and rotation. Retains a rich, aged patina consistent with its era. Maker: Collecting Note:
“Library Globe – Replogle Globes Inc., Chicago”
and the legend notes:
“Made in U.S.A. Copyright 1935 Replogle Globes, Inc.”
