Description :
A remarkable pair of antique “International Postage Stamp Album – Twentieth Century” volumes published by Scott Publications, covering 1901–1920 and 1920–1929. These richly illustrated albums represent decades of global postal history, containing hundreds of mounted stamps from the United States, Japan, France, Great Britain, and numerous European and Asian territories. The collection includes early commemorative, definitive, and revenue issues, many identified by hand and neatly arranged by country. Together, these volumes reflect the care and knowledge of an early philatelist documenting an era of expanding international mail. Two original hardcover albums, embossed brown covers with gilt lettering and ornate borders. United States pages featuring early 20th-century Washington–Franklin issues, Pan-American Exposition, and 1898 revenue stamps, with some imperforates and coil variations. Japanese section includes Meiji and Taishō era stamps (c. 1880s–1930s) displayed on a striking decorative folio with Mount Fuji artwork, hand-labeled “Military Issues” and postal cards with kanji inscriptions and cancellations. European selection featuring classic French, German, and British colonial stamps, some early airmail and revenue issues. Additional materials: loose envelopes, postal covers with cancellations, and a small group of detached stamps tucked between album pages. The International Postage Stamp Album series was among the premier collector’s albums of the early 20th century, providing structured layouts for every recognized world issue. The presence of both consecutive decade volumes—still filled and annotated—makes this a rare archival pair, highly desirable for collectors of U.S. and worldwide classic stamps.Highlights
