Description :

A striking hand-crafted Navajo ring featuring a natural rectangular turquoise stone set in a bold sterling silver bezel with a decorative beaded border. The turquoise displays natural matrix and color variations characteristic of Southwestern stones. The wide split shank adds both comfort and presence on the finger.

Accompanied by a handwritten tag identifying the maker as Dick Simpson, also known as Dick Yazzie, a Navajo silversmith known for traditional turquoise jewelry. The ring is unsigned, but consistent with mid-20th-century Navajo craftsmanship.

Details:

  • Maker: Attributed to Dick Yazzie (Dick Simpson), Navajo

  • Material: Sterling silver (unmarked, tested or presumed)

  • Gemstone: Natural turquoise cabochon

  • Ring Size: 8

  • Period: Likely mid to late 20th century

  • Markings: Unsigned (maker noted on tag)

Collecting Note:

Dick Yazzie is a name associated with quality Navajo silversmithing, and pieces in his traditional style—especially those with natural turquoise stones—are prized by collectors of Native American jewelry. This example showcases classic Navajo design elements: bold silverwork, hand-cut turquoise, and an organic, earthy aesthetic.
