Description :

Early 20th century mahogany stereoscope viewer, bearing a metal maker’s tag marked “Maison Gaudin, Opticien et Photographe, Paris.” This finely crafted optical instrument is accompanied by two boxes of Eastman Dry Plates(Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester, N.Y.) and a collection of stereoscopic glass negatives depicting family scenes, interiors, and outdoor portraits dating from the 1930s.

The viewer retains its original dual lenses and focusing knobs but shows age-related wear, surface scratches, and missing components, consistent with age and use. The glass plates exhibit minor chips, edge wear, and emulsion losstypical for period photography materials.

Condition:
Needs repair; several pieces may be missing.

Collecting Note:
Maison Gaudin was among the earliest French optical suppliers, active from the mid-19th century. Together, the viewer and glass plates offer a tangible glimpse into the early days of home stereoscopic photography.
