Description :

OK, right up front - we don't know much about guns and we know even less about this particular gun. We DO know it is an antique muzzleloader and from the looks of the wear on the wood, we are guessing it is quite old. We think it would look wonderful displayed on a wall in a den or in a case so it can be seen on all sides (the style makes us think of movies with gentlemen dueling over honor).

it is definitely not currently operable (trigger is missing), but the gun itself is a thing of beauty and appears to have been made by hand with incised metal and lots of decorative flourishes. The intricate leaf pattern on the butt and inset metal sections speak to someone who really loved creating these kind of pieces. The wood is smooth to the touch and the gun must have been used a fair amount when it was younger given the smooth wooden surface. No maker mark detected.

We noticed some masking tape on the barrel of the gun and peeled some of it away to discover that a section of the wood has a split and needs to be glued. Please take a look at the photos. We leave that to the new owner who knows what they are doing! Please give this beauty a home and the TLC it deserves.

Measures 13" L.
