Description :
Elegant Japanese eggshell porcelain set featuring exceptionally fine hand‑painted scenes of traditional figures, garden landscapes, and architectural elements. The ultra‑thin porcelain body allows light to pass through when held, characteristic of classic eggshell production. The underside is marked with Japanese characters that translate to "Great Japan, Made by Takarazuka". We estimate this set to have been produced during the Meiji period (1868-1912), making it a precious antique of Japanese artisanship and delicate crafting. Additionally, import laws changed after 1912 to require English be used to mark export pieces, confirming this is a 1912 or earlier work. Values for pieces of this condition, quality, and age range into hundreds of dollars, particularly for the "Kutani" hand painting, particularly figural scenes and the use of gold gilding and fine red lines. This coordinated grouping includes two teacups with matching saucers and three small plates, each decorated with detailed brushwork, soft tonal shading, and gilt accents along the rims. The imagery is consistent across the set, with variations in scene composition that highlight the artisan’s hand. Includes: 2 teacups
2 saucers
3 small plates Condition:
Light surface wear consistent with age. No noted cracks or repairs. Gold detailing remains strong.
