Description :

Three lovely pieces of Nippon porcelain, each offering a different little scene. A tall floral vase pairs orange and green blossoms with angular handles and geometric borders, while a softer landscape vase shows sailboats on quiet water beneath slender trees. The handled bowl brings the two themes together with yellow flowers, a lakeside landscape and tiny swans, framed by a peach border and gold decoration.

Details

  • Includes: Two double-handled vases and one double-handled decorative bowl
  • Material: Hand-painted glazed porcelain with raised decorative details and gilt accents
  • Floral Vase: Tapered, angular body with orange and green flowers, long leaves, black-and-white detailing, lavender geometric accents and squared handles
  • Scenic Vase: Rounded rectangular body with a pale blue waterside landscape, sailboats and trees; scroll handles and an ochre-colored rim decorated with raised dots and jewel-like accents
  • Handled Bowl: Painted landscape with swans and yellow flowers, a peach-colored inner border, geometric gilt outer band and gold-decorated loop handles
  • Marks: All three bear green “Hand Painted Nippon” M-in-wreath backstamps associated with Morimura Brothers

Measurements

  • Floral Vase: Approximately 2⅞" across × 6⅞" high
  • Scenic Sailboat Vase: Approximately 4.25" across × 5⅝" high
  • Handled Bowl: Approximately 7" across × 3.25" high

Condition

Pre-owned with wear to gilding, painted trim and raised decoration, particularly around the handles, rims and edges. Both vases show interior staining or residue, and the bases have shelf wear and discoloration. The bowl has surface marks and fine lines visible in the peach border. Please review all close-up photos for individual condition details.

Highlights

  • A Connection to Early Noritake: The M-in-wreath mark represents Morimura Brothers, the company behind Noritake. The original “Hand Painted Nippon” version was used from 1911–1921.
  • Decoration Worth a Closer Look: Raised dots, outlined flowers, elaborate handles and delicate painted landscapes give these pieces interest beyond their silhouettes.
  • Three Complementary Finds: A varied group for a porcelain collection, offering floral, scenic and geometric decoration in one lot.
