Description :

Two Patrick Creek Pottery jars in warm bands of ochre, rust and brown, with pale speckled interiors. Each has its own fitted lid, and the smaller jar has a spoon notch with a yellow spoon included. Their related glazes and slightly different shapes make a lovely pair for a kitchen shelf or pottery collection.

Details

  • Maker: Both bases are stamped “Patrick Creek Pottery,” with an additional maker’s stamp that appears to read “J. Flaherty.”
  • Smaller Jar: Upright cylindrical form with a flared rim and knobbed lid, notched to accommodate a spoon
  • Larger Jar: Rounded, barrel-shaped canister with a low-profile fitted lid
  • Material & Finish: Wheel-thrown stoneware with visible throwing rings, earthy banded glazes and pale gray-green speckled interiors
  • Included: Two jars, two lids and one plastic honey comb

Measurements

  • Smaller Jar: Approx. 3.75" wide x 5" high without lid
  • Larger Jar: Approx. 4.5" wide at the base x 5.5" high with lid

Condition

Pre-owned, with some surface marks and wear to the unglazed bases and lid contact points. The glazes have natural speckling, color variation and irregularities. The curved opening in the smaller lid is a spoon notch. Please review the close-up photos for rim and lid condition.

Highlights

  • A Bit of History: Patrick Creek Pottery was a Montana studio established by potters Jim Flaherty and Robert Markle. These stamped pieces connect the pair to that regional studio pottery tradition.
  • A Coordinating Find: Two related jars with their lids included, offering a small collection in one lot rather than having to find companion pieces separately
  • Handmade Character: Throwing rings, speckled clay and flowing glaze variations give each jar its own character while keeping the pair visually connected.
