Description :

A small gathering with plenty of character: cobalt-blue pitchers, relief-decorated steins, a personalized University of Washington mug and miniature tankard-shaped salt and pepper shakers. A bonus sailboat stein joins the lot with its detached lid included.

Details

  • One rounded cobalt-blue and gray lidded stein with raised figures, German lettering and a target-and-foliage design.
  • Two open handled stoneware vessels with grapevine decoration and German drinking verses. One bears an impressed West Germany mark and the number 5514.
  • One slender cobalt-blue pitcher with cream-colored relief decoration and German lettering.
  • One wider blue pitcher with an iridescent brown neck and raised figural scenes.
  • One white University of Washington mug bearing the date 1958, a crest and the name “Jim.”
  • One pair of metal tankard-shaped salt and pepper shakers with lids and S/P lettering; exact metal composition is unconfirmed.
  • Bonus: one cobalt-blue sailboat stein with a broken lid attachment. The detached metal lid is included.

Measurements

  • Main grouping: approximately 3"–6.7" H.

Highlights

The personalized UW mug adds a local connection to this otherwise European-inspired grouping. Varied shapes and traditional drinking verses make the collection an easy addition to a bar shelf, with the miniature shakers lending a little scale—and restraint.

Condition

Previously owned with scratches, glaze wear, interior staining and residue. The wider blue-and-brown pitcher has a visible hairline crack extending from the rim into the interior. Metal fittings and shakers show oxidation, discoloration and deposits. The bonus sailboat stein has a broken lid attachment, leaving the lid detached; it is included as a display or repair piece. Liquid retention and shaker operation have not been tested. Please review the photographs for details.
