    Description :

    Quartet of hard to find books on hunting in Arctic/Alaska pre-statehood & one year after statehood. Client's father was a big game hunter from Alaska who hunted in the Americas and Asia. These are from his reference collection. See photos to judge condition for yourself.

    HUNTING IN THE ARCTIC AND ALASKA by E. Marshall Scull. Hardcover 1915. John C. Winston Co. (Philadelphia PA). 304 pages. Author’s hunting trips to Alaska, Yukon, and Chukotsk peninsulas detailing hunting of seals, bears, and walrus. Measures 9" H x 6.25" W. Rare book in good used condition with tight binding; some pencil on flyleaf & next page.

    THE FRIENDLY ARCTIC – THE STORY OF FIVE YEARS IN POLAR REGIONS by Vilhjalmur Stefansson. Hardcover. 1921 Macmillan Co. (New York NY). 784 pages. Author visits Eskimos/First Peoples of the western Arctic including the Beaufort Sea. Measures 9" H x just over 6" W. In fair shape with binding tattered and well-worn cover. Many illustrations along with 2 very fragile paper maps at the back of the book. Book binding is in less than optimal condition - there are also water stains on pages and signature on front flyleaf.

    THE WILDERNESS OF DENALI – EXPLORATIONS OF A HUNTER-NATURALIST IN NORTHERN ALASKA by Charles Sheldon. 1960, Charles Scribner & Sons (New York NY). 412 pages. Details of the author’s experiences as a solo hunter in the sub-Arctic region of Alaska near Mt. McKinley (Denali). Covers many details of grizzly bear hunting along with sheep hunting and encounters with lynx, moose, and other inhabitants. In ok used condition, binding still tight. 

    AFTER BIG GAME IN THE UPPER YUKON by Nevill A.D. Armstrong. Hardcover. 1937, John Cox Ltd. (London UK). 287 pages. Details Canada’s Yukon region with a mix of natural history and hunting experiences – mostly sheep, caribou, & moose. Stains on covers but otherwise in good used condition

Do not bid if you do not plan to purchase.If you bid, you MUST be available/arrange for pick-up of purchases on the pick-up date unless you have made prior shipping arrangements. Bring necessary tools and help for picking up large items. Loading assistance is NOT available. Some items may be located on a 2nd floor, out building.

    Invoices are emailed to winning bidders once the sale has completely closed.Full payment must be made by 8:00 p.m. the day after auction closes. If total payment is not received before the pick-up date & time, items will be forfeited, and bidding privileges revoked.

    Pick-up information will be on the invoice e-mailed after the auction closes.All items not picked up during the designated times will be considered abandoned and may be donated or resold. When possible, and at our sole discretion, an alternate pick-up time may be arranged. If this is possible, an appropriate fee will be charged. 

    A 10% Buyer's Premium and Sales Tax are added to the winning bid amount when invoiced. Sales tax is waived for licensed re-sellers.

    We make every effort to describe lot items as accurately as possible. Expect normal signs of wear associated with antiques, vintage, and used items. We do not list every flaw.
