Description :
Vintage Kids’ Entertainment of all sorts.
Good: For the quiet afternoon of relaxation, here are a pair of US map puzzles. Both have wooden pieces & both boxes show heavy wear. Please see photos from details on boxes and puzzles themselves.
United States puzzle map from Parker Brothers. Original copyright is 1915, but Alaska, Hawaii, Philippines, & Porto (sic) Rico are included. The machine that did the cutting wasn’t exacting & while all the pieces fit, the claim of the shapes of the states being followed is rather doubtful…
United States puzzle map from Milton Bradley. US States are on one side with a world map on the other. Although this is on wood, there is one round section broken off – puzzle still goes together just fine when you insert the piece in the correct place. Could use a good scrub after being in storage for so long. Measures approx. 14” H x 20” W.
Bad: before there were video games, some kids delighted in looking for ways to drive adults crazy. These 3 toys are great candidates whose use would be sure to end in irritation:
Periscope – great for spying on someone where they think they are all alone in the bathroom. This version was produced by Ralston & Co of Peoria, IL. The backside even suggests a little bit of spying! Cardboard tube construction with red plastic ends & interior mirrors. Shows wear from use. Measures 18” L.
Ping-pong ball repeater guns in red and black rubber. Stuff the ping-pong ball in the end, quickly squish the handle and the ball shoots out at your unsuspecting victim. Both are from Kusan, but are styled a bit differently with the black version being slightly larger – it measures just over 5.5” W. (No ping pong balls included.)
Bazooka Exploding Battleship in original mailing box. This ship runs on a twisted rubber band and can shoot small torpedoes (included) hard enough to put an eye out…New and unused – still needs to be assembled with enclosed instructions. In colored plastic.
Ugly: For the sneaky kid serving revenge cold.
Gilmark Company X-43 Mark small plastic car. This one doesn’t spy, shoot things, or explode, but it could cause severe pain if left on the floor for an unsuspecting passerby to step on barefoot. Of red, yellow, and blue hard plastic from the late 1950s. Measures 4” L.
