Description :

Compilation of various pamphlets/booklets for the general public and specialist promoting the Space Program in its early years. Brochures are a bit tattered and the photos are showing their age, too. However, the content is fascinating and a window into the period when the possibility of man is space was no longer a fantasy. Please look at the photos closely.

Freedom 7 pamphlet (1962) with detailed info about the mission and advertising Savings Bonds.

“Where are We in Space?” THIS WEEK MAGAZINE 1961. Article by Wernher von Braun outlining the US Space program – compares with the Soviets. Also included is a small booklet from an evangelical minister interviewing von Braun entitled “The farther we probe into space, the greater my faith….” (definitely a proselytizing tract!)

“Why spend $20 billion to go to the Moon?”  Pamphlet by James Webb. Reprinted from US NEWS & WORLD REPORT 1961.

RESULTS OF THE SECOND US MANNED SUBORBITAL SPACE FLIGHT – JULY 21, 1961, booklet from NASA. 58 pages. Details Gus Grissom’s Liberty Bell flight. Highly technical publication – for the true aficionado who understands physics/math/medicine.

THIS IS NASA pamphlet. 1961. General interest overview of program and future plans.

SPACE LOG 1963 booklet from TRW Spacelabs Technology. Another publication for the aficionado with US launches, Tiros, and USSR technology.

3 NASA pamphlets on Pioneer 5, TIROS, & Echo 1. All from NASA – early 1960s.

THE X-15 RESEARCH AIRPLANE brochure from NASA 1961. 13 pages. For the general interest reader.

NASA SPACECRAFT brochure from NASA. 1959. Descriptions of launching rockets, satellites, and booster vehicles along with other tech in use at the time.

Black & white photo of Discoverer 8 from the US Air Force. Description on verso.

SPACE HORIZONS Journal. Volume 1 Issue 1. 1965.  98 pages covering many aspects of space for the general reader.
