Description :

"Quail Eggs" by Don Paulsen (1939-2006).  Collection of papers held at the University of Washington libraries.  Don was an artist and author in the Seattle area.  He attended Auburn High School, served in the U.S. Army for two years, lived in New York and Los Angeles and returned to Seattle in 1966.  He then devoted himself to painting.  Paulson was a contributor to "Seattle Gay News" and formed a friendship with Skippy LaRue.  The Paulson papers are comprised of textual materials, sound recordings, videocassettes, programs, handbills and sheet music relating to Paulson's life as an artist.

This particular artwork, created in 1973, showcases Paulson’s skill in capturing natural elements with soft, fluid brushstrokes. The gentle hues and intricate shading bring out the texture of the quail eggs, making them appear almost tangible. His ability to evoke warmth and depth in his compositions is a hallmark of his artistic style.

Signed in pencil by Don Paulson, 1973.
