Description :

This is an antique Arlington brand treadle sewing machine sold through the "Cash Buyers Union" co-op founded in the late 1800s. We believe this machine is from the early 1900s. The cabinet appears to be solid oak while the mechanical parts are the standard cast iron and it rests on small wheels. Like most treadle machines, the support table flips to the left and then the machine pulls up and sits on a dropped panel. The handwheel and treadle all move smoothly when turned. Traditional all black machine with gold detailing applied - actual sewing mechanism not tested and it obviously needs a new belt on the wheel.

What stands out about this machine is the ornate curved ironwork in the lower portion - it would make a terrific sturdy table base if you chose not to refurbish the piece as a sewing machine - see last 3 pictures are examples of this repurposing trend from various internet sources.

Measures 31" H x 33" W x 18.5" D when closed.

Please note that the exterior finish on the cabinet is really showing its age and the drawer on the upper right has been replaced at some point - it does not match the other three perfectly, but you don’t notice until you are looking at the hardware very closely or directly from the side.

NOTE:

Pick-ups for furniture ONLY will be on FRIDAY FEBRUARY 13th in Shorewood during a 2-hour window: 1-3 p.m. If you cannot make this pickup window, please do not bid. We may have slight flexibility, but not much.
