Description :

“New Washington Heading Out” is an original acrylic painting by Carl Christopherson, depicting a working fishing vessel pushing through active coastal waters beneath a soft, shifting sky. Christopherson’s controlled brushwork captures the rhythm of the waves, the weight and structure of the boat, and the movement of gulls circling above. His palette of cool blues, whites, and muted shoreline tones creates a dynamic yet grounded maritime scene—an authentic portrayal of Pacific Northwest fishing life rendered with clarity and atmosphere.

Artist Bio — Carl Christopherson (American, 20th Century)

Carl Christopherson is an American painter recognized for his maritime and coastal subjects, particularly scenes inspired by the working harbors and fishing communities of the Pacific Northwest. Working primarily in acrylic and oil, Christopherson developed a style rooted in realism, emphasizing accurate vessel detail, atmospheric light, and the relationship between sea and sky.

He studied fine art through regional programs and continued his development in private studio practice, refining a technique that blends traditional maritime draftsmanship with contemporary color sensibility. Christopherson’s work has been shown in Northwest galleries, coastal art exhibitions, and community art centers, and is held in private collections throughout Washington and Oregon. Collectors value his paintings for their authenticity, clarity, and the sense of place he brings to working‑waterfront subjects.
