Description :
“Fish Camp with Noorduyn Norseman” is an original acrylic by Ross Buckland, depicting an early‑morning wilderness camp where three anglers gather around a fire beside their beached floatplane. The Noorduyn Norseman—rendered with Buckland’s trademark technical accuracy—rests at the water’s edge, its pontoons catching the cool light of dawn. A canvas tent, dense timberline, and distant mountains frame the scene, while the warm glow of the campfire anchors the composition. Buckland’s crisp detail, atmospheric layering, and narrative clarity capture both the ruggedness and camaraderie of remote northern aviation life. Ross Buckland is a Canadian painter celebrated for his detailed, atmospheric depictions of aviation, wilderness landscapes, maritime subjects, and historic transportation. Born in Calgary in 1958, he is largely self‑taught, having developed his technique independently after early high‑school art training. His lifelong fascination with aircraft—particularly bush planes and WWII‑era aviation—shapes the technical precision and narrative realism that define his work. Buckland works primarily in oil and acrylic, known for crisp linework, luminous skies, and meticulous attention to aircraft structure and environmental detail. His paintings have been exhibited in respected venues including Trailside Galleries and Tabora Gallery, and he has received honors from the American Society of Aviation Artists, including the prestigious Founders’ Gold Award. 25” T.
