Description :
This piece is a period copy or artist study of Robert Van Cleef's 20th-century work, a portrait of a seated lady playing a guitar. Rich color and expressive brushwork give this seated guitarist a lively presence. Wearing a pink headscarf, white blouse and flowing red-orange skirt, she holds an acoustic guitar against a loosely painted background of olive green, cream and yellow. The textured surface and bold palette bring a bohemian feel to this unframed canvas. It features a prominent and clear signature by the copyist, "Samuell", in the lower left corner. The painting perfectly captures the nostalgic, bohemian aesthetic of retro mid-century modern home decor. A wonderful statement piece for collectors of modernist art or vintage interior design! Used condition with surface marks, edge wear and wear at the canvas corners. The reverse shows discoloration, scattered marks and exposed fasteners. Canvas tension and stretcher joints have not been fully evaluated. Please review all photographs, including the paint-surface and reverse close-ups.
