Description :

The most intricate(!) collection of miniature trinket boxes and keepsake containers, including marked Limoges porcelain examples alongside decorative metal pieces. Figural designs range from a flower cart and birdcage to a windmill, teapot, rosebud, and blue portrait box.

Flower-cart box with colourful blossoms and a pink umbrella, marked “Peint Main Rochard Limoges France.”
Bird-themed porcelain box with a removable gold-tone cage cover, marked “Peint Main Limoges France.”
Windmill box marked “Chaps Limoges France Peint à la main.”
Blue figural portrait box marked “Peint Main Limoges.”
Additional porcelain-style boxes include a rosebud, floral teapot, round applied-flower design, narrow rectangular box, and patterned oval box containing miniature candy-shaped ornaments.
Metal pieces include an engraved oval locket, a round hinged container with a bow motif, and an oval container with a pale inset lid.
Several boxes have painted interior details and decorative metal mounts. Not every piece is identified as Limoges; makers and materials of the remaining examples are unconfirmed.

Measurements

Widths range approximately 1.5–2.5 inches.
Heights range approximately 0.2–4.2 inches.

Highlights

Marked Rochard and Chaps examples provide specific collecting interest within this mixed assortment.
Historical note: modern Limoges porcelain boxes draw on the French snuffbox tradition of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. “Peint Main” means hand-painted.

Condition

Previously owned with varying surface wear, scratches, discolouration, and tarnish to metal mounts and containers. Some bases retain labels or adhesive residue. Minor marks and residue occur inside several pieces. The illustrated hinges open, but clasp security and the condition of all small projecting details have not been individually verified. Miniature candy-shaped ornaments are included with the patterned oval box; their originality to that box is unconfirmed. Please review the close-up photographs for individual condition details.

Invoices are emailed to winning bidders once the sale has completely closed.Full payment must be made by 8:00 p.m. the day after auction closes. If total payment is not received before the pick-up date & time, items will be forfeited, and bidding privileges revoked.

Pick-up information will be on the invoice e-mailed after the auction closes.All items not picked up during the designated times will be considered abandoned and may be donated or resold. When possible, and at our sole discretion, an alternate pick-up time may be arranged. If this is possible, an appropriate fee will be charged.

A 12% Buyer's Premium and Sales Tax are added to the winning bid amount when invoiced. Sales tax is waived for licensed re-sellers.
