Description :
Fabulous
scale reproduction model of the Grumman Lunar Module by SFX Models.* This is
a replica of the original contractor model. Made of molded resin
and soldered brass, it has details like ladders, satellite dishes and
antennae with the model mounted on a green/black Perspex base. NASA and
Grumman insignias on base topside and felt pad on bottom. Model attaches to
base with a central pin. Measures 7.5" H including VHF antenna x 10.5"
W at base. In good used shape with the slight wear with age and some of the antennae a bit worse for wear. There is one dish that is detached with what looks like
a previously glued repair (see last 2 photos for details). Please note that this is
one of the models stored on a high shelf that would benefit from a good scrub. Also note that there is no maker mark on this model, but it is a duplicate of an SFX model of slightly newer vintage that was sold in an earlier auction. *SFX models
is a high-end limited production model maker run by special effects
designer Robert Jones. He makes his models for collectors, exhibitions,
and museums. Currently located in Italy, his models are highly detailed
and much coveted by true aficionados of aerospace
collecting. "My name is Robert Jones and I run SFX Models
Ltd. For the last 27 years I have been working in the film & TV
industry, designing & making flying U.F.O's, Jumping Batmobiles,
whipped Guinness, walking trees, real earthquakes, sinister robot dogs, flame
grilled BBC 2 kebabs, Jenson Buttons winning Brawn F1 car, giant butter knives,
a massive spoon to hit Vic Reeves, Harry Potters Hogwarts, vomiting fax
machines, Teletubbies Custard Train, ticking bombs, 10,000 letters to Santa,
the GPO Tower made from cash & ride-on hoverboards. At the end of 2018 I
moved to Italy and set up a workshop and design office. I hope to continue
making props and effects for feature films, but I also want to make space
related things, particularly from the 1960's 'Space Race' era."
