Description :
A pair of
terrific pop-up rockets from Hungary that are perfect display specimens. “Interkosmos” CCCP rocket made by Hungarian manufacturer
Gyor circa 1960s. This tin pop-up rocket
has Cyrillic labeling, a wonderful gold fuselage and red/blue highlights/fins.
When the nose portion hits the wall, it pops up on end and a ladder drops from
the rocket exposing a spaceman ready to descend it. The friction still works –
in fact almost a little too enthusiastically. When revved up and the nose hits
the wall, it stands up very quickly; usually so fast that it pops over backwards onto the
ground. Perhaps its new owner can fix this or will just use it for display –
the stunning gold is really unusual for a tin toy. Cosmetically, it’s in extremely
good condition for its age – it hasn’t seen much use. Approx. 15.5” L
“Holdraketa”
rocket made by Hungarian manufacturer Gyor circa 1960s. This tin pop-up rocket
has a grey fuselage with yellow, red, and blue detailing. When the nose portion
hits the wall, it VERY slowly rises up on end to just a hair short of vertical.
Unfortunately, because it doesn’t go completely vertical, the ladder that
exposes the astronaut doesn’t drop down by itself. Just a hair more lift would
release the ladder, it appears. Cosmetically in good condition showing use over
the years, but nothing egregious. Approx. 15.5” L Several of these on the internet in various working conditions: Vintage Lemez Tin Friction Toy Space Rocket Holdraketa, Hungarian | eBay Vintage Tin Toy - Interkosmos Holdraketa - Space Rocket with Original Box | eBay
